About Biggar Gin
Q: Who are Biggar Gin?
We're an independent craft distillery founded and run by brothers Stuart and Euan McVicar. We design, distil, bottle, and label everything at The Stillhouse — our distillery at Wyndales Mill, Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
Q: Where are you based?
The Stillhouse is located at Wyndales Mill, Symington, Biggar, South Lanarkshire, ML12 6HX - on the edge of the Scottish Southern Uplands, at the foot of the Tinto Hills.
Q: What does "small batch" mean?
It means we produce our spirits in limited runs — typically under 200 bottles per batch. Our Original Biggar Gin, for example, is produced in batches of no more than 140 bottles. Small batches mean we can taste every run and maintain quality in a way that isn't possible at volume.
Q: Do you make everything yourselves?
Yes. Every spirit that carries the Biggar name is distilled, bottled, and labelled in-house at The Stillhouse. We don't outsource production.
Orders and delivery
Q: How long will my order take?
Orders placed before 11am are dispatched the same working day. We use Royal Mail 48-hour tracked delivery — most orders arrive within 2–3 working days of dispatch.
Q: Do you offer free delivery?
Yes. All UK orders over £32 qualify for free standard delivery.
Q: Can I track my order?
Yes. You'll receive a Royal Mail tracking number by email once your order has been dispatched.
Q: Do you ship internationally?
We currently deliver within the UK only. We hope to expand this in future — sign up to our mailing list for updates.
Q: Can I cancel or change my order after placing it?
Yes, if your order hasn't been dispatched yet. Contact us as soon as possible at info@biggargin.com or call tel:01899872122 and we'll do our best to make changes before it ships.
Q: Can I add a gift message to my order?
Yes. You can add a short personal message at checkout. We also offer gift wrapping — select this option when ordering.
Returns and refunds
Q: What's your returns policy?
If your order arrives damaged, faulty, or incorrect, contact us within 7 days of receipt at info@biggargin.com with a description and photo of the issue. We'll resolve it quickly.
Q: Can I return an unopened bottle if I've changed my mind?
We're unable to accept returns on unopened bottles unless there's been an error on our part. If you're unsure which product to order, /pages/contact before purchasing — we're happy to advise.
Q: How long do refunds take?
Once a refund has been approved, it's typically processed within 3–5 working days. The time for funds to appear in your account depends on your bank.
Our products
Q: What's the difference between your gins?
- Biggar Gin Original — our flagship, 43% ABV. Bright, balanced, and citrus-forward with a smooth, complex finish. London Dry style. Botanicals include juniper, coriander, cardamom, cassia, orange, lemon, rosehip, rowan berries, nettles, pink peppercorn, and lavender.
- Biggar Strength Gin — 57% ABV. The one that scored 98/100 at the IWSC. Bold, full-bodied, and built for people who want more intensity from their gin. Exceptional in cocktails.
- Old Tom Gin — 43% ABV. Lightly sweetened with warming spice. A more approachable style suited to classic cocktails and those who prefer something less dry.
- Herbaceous Gin — 43% ABV. Green, aromatic, and fresh. Distinct from our other expressions and worth exploring if you like botanical-forward gins.
- Cask Aged Gin (Sherry) — 43% ABV. Rested with staves from an ex-sherry cask. Available in very limited quantities per batch — typically 70 bottles.
Q: What's the difference between your cocktail range and the spirits?
Our ready-to-drink cocktails are made with Biggar spirits and contain two full serves per 20cl bottle — the equivalent of what you'd expect from a well-made cocktail in a good bar. They're bottled at a cocktail-appropriate ABV and made without preservatives or artificial flavourings. Store upright in a cool, dark place.
Q: Are your products available in miniature sizes?
Yes. Our Original, Biggar Strength, and some other expressions are available in 5cl miniatures — ideal for gifting or for trying before committing to a full bottle. See our /collections/gift-sets for options.
Q: Do you have a gift card?
Yes — Biggar Gin gift cards are available in the /products/biggar-gin-gift-card.
Distillery tours
Q: Do you run distillery tours?
Yes. We run guided tours of The Stillhouse on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 and 14:00. Each tour lasts 90 minutes and is limited to six participants.
Q: How much does a tour cost?
£20 per person.
Q: What's included in the tour?
A welcome serve on arrival, a guided tour of the distillery and production process, and a tasting of three core spirits plus one experimental recipe.
Q: What's the minimum age for tours?
Participants must be 15 years or older.
Q: Do you run private or group tours?
Yes — The Stillhouse is available for private bookings outside standard tour hours. /pages/contact to discuss availability and pricing.
Q: Do you run Mixology sessions?
Occasionally — these are two-hour sessions focused on cocktail making with Biggar spirits. Contact info@biggargin.com to enquire about upcoming dates or a private booking.
