The gin lover in your life already has gin. Probably several. So this guide is sorted by the person, not the bottle. What they actually drink, how much you want to spend, and whether they'd rather have a thing or a day out. Every price below is what it costs in our shop today, and every link goes to the product page. We make it all at The Stillhouse, our distillery at the foot of Tinto Hill outside Biggar, so we're not a neutral guide to gin gifts. We are a reasonably honest one.
The short version
- £20 and under: a 5cl aluminium miniature (£5), the Miniature Triple Pack of three gins (£18), or a distillery tour ticket (£20).
- For a bottle: Biggar Gin, Old Tom or Herbaceous at £37; Biggar Strength at £43, the gin the IWSC scored 98/100 in 2022.
- For the cocktail person: the Cocktail Gift Box of 20cl bottled cocktails (£44), a build-your-own box, or the Negroni Ready to Serve (£34).
- Can't decide: a digital gift card from £10, or a two-compartment gift box you fill yourself.
- Order early if it has to be under the tree. Last posting dates go up on the blog in late November.

£20 and under
The Miniature Triple Pack (£18) is the gift we'd buy for someone we didn't know well. Three 5cl bottles: the Original Recipe, the Herbaceous Recipe and Biggar Strength at 57%. It's a tasting flight in a box, and it settles the question of which bottle to buy them next year. If you want a stocking filler, the Original Gin miniature (£5) is the same gin we bottle at 70cl, in a 5cl bottle made from 100% recycled aluminium. One proper double.
For the same money you can give a morning instead: a distillery tour ticket is £20, and it's covered below.
The classic gin drinker
Buy them Biggar Gin (70cl, £37). It's our original recipe, a London Dry (nothing added after distillation) made in batches of no more than 140 bottles. It won the London Dry category at The Gin Guide Awards in 2018. If the person you're buying for drinks G&Ts and doesn't want a lecture, this is the bottle. If they'd enjoy the lecture, we've written about what London Dry actually means and why it's the strictest way to make gin.
The one who likes it strong
Biggar Strength (70cl, £43) is the bottle for anyone who mixes their own cocktails or thinks most gin is a bit polite. It's navy strength, which means 57% ABV. It's also the gin the International Wine and Spirit Competition scored 98 out of 100 in 2022, and Great Taste gave it three stars the same year. Those are the two numbers we'd rather be judged on than anything we write here. If they don't know what navy strength gin means, that post makes a better card than most.
The one who likes something different
Four bottles, all £37 to £43, for the drinker who already has a London Dry and wants a second one that isn't.
- Biggar Old Tom (£37, 43%): lightly sweetened, rounder and softer than a dry gin. The one for people who say they don't like gin. What Old Tom is, if they ask.
- Biggar Herbaceous (£37): lemon verbena, sage, clivers, dandelion root and elderflower on top of the juniper. Greener and less citrus-led than the original.
- Sherry Cask Aged Gin (£43): gin rested on staves from an ex-sherry cask, 43% ABV, 70 bottles in the batch. For the whisky drinker who's gin-curious.
- Asian Spiced Rum (£37): our own Scottish white rum blended with a Caribbean white rum, spiced with Szechuan pepper, allspice and cloves. Not gin, and a good present for exactly that reason.
Two limited editions come back in October. Clyde Valley Plum Recipe (£39.95) is a 40% gin infused with plums grown only in the Clyde Valley. Bonfire Gin (£37) is the spiced one, with green chilli, ginger, cloves and milk thistle. Both are limited runs, so if either is the right gift, don't leave it until December.
The cocktail person
Our bottled cocktails are 20cl, two serves each, bottled at 20% ABV (27% for the Negroni), so the recipient adds the ice and the shake. The Cocktail Gift Box (£44) is four 20cl bottles from our most popular six, already chosen for you. If you know what they like, My Cocktail Box lets you pick four, five or six from the ten. That's Negroni, Espresso Martini, Bee's Knees, White Lady, Elderflower & Raspberry Gimlet, Nettle Daiquiri, Mojito, Bramble, French Martini and Old Tom Collins. For someone who only ever orders one drink, the Biggar Negroni Ready to Serve (£34) is Biggar Strength, Campari and Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, mixed here and bottled at 27%. Pour over ice, add orange peel, done.
If you want to know what's actually in the bottles before you buy, how we make our bottled cocktails covers it. Our Negroni post covers the one that started it. A pair of Biggar rocks glasses (£12) turns any of these into a set.
The one who'd rather have a day out
A Distillery Tour ticket is £20 and it's the gift that doesn't need wrapping. Ninety minutes at The Stillhouse: how the still works, what the botanicals are and where we grow them, then a tasting. Tours run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:00 and 13:30. Biggar is about 45 minutes from Glasgow, so it fits into a day. If they live at the other end of the country, a gift card by email covers the ticket and lets them pick the date.
Buying for a business
If you're buying for clients or staff, branded and bespoke bottles work differently from the shop: minimum quantities, lead times, and a label with your name on it. The details are on our corporate gifting page. The short advice is to ask in October, not December.
The one who'd rather choose
A digital gift card starts at £10, arrives by email, and works on anything in the shop, including tours. If you want something to hand over on the day, Build a Gift Box gives you a box with two compartments and lets you fill them. Two bottles, a bottle and two miniatures, or a bottle and a pair of glasses.
Ordering in time
We post from the distillery, and December post is slow. If a gift has to be under the tree, order in November. We publish the exact last posting dates on the blog in late November once Royal Mail confirms them, and they'll be linked from here. Tour tickets and gift cards have no postal deadline, which is worth remembering on the 22nd.
And if you're reading this for yourself rather than for someone else, that's allowed too. Have a good Christmas.
Enjoy responsibly. Our spirits are for adults aged 18 and over.
